Astig proved their might as they dominated the court, outplaying the defending champions, Mabulawanon, in an intense and electrifying face-off at the District Level Sepak Takraw Championship held at the NPS open field this morning, Astig’s control with set tallies of 12–15, 17–16, and 15–7 (2–1).
Led by Ef Miguel Dacillo, Astig’s tekong (server and captain), the team showed sharp coordination, explosive kicks, and tactical communication throughout the game.
“We didn’t expect this kind of outcome, but we gave it our best in every rally. All our hard work and extra practices finally paid off,” said Dacillo after the match.
From the opening whistle, Mabulawanon took the early momentum with their quick serves and agile footwork.
Their killer spikes tested Astig’s defense, but Astig quickly regained rhythm through precise chest control, sharp reflexes, and perfect blocks by Lay Bacacao, who anchored the backline like a true defensive wall.
As the game reached set point, both sides refused to give an inch.
Every rally became a breathtaking exchange of roll spikes, headers, and jump serves.
The crowd roared when Dacillo delivered a perfect cross-court spike, sealing the first set at 17–16.
In the second set, Mabulawanon tried to break Astig’s growing momentum with aggressive serves, but the duo of Dacillo and Bacacao remained unstoppable.
Their chemistry was on full display, every feed was met with a thunderous spike that echoed across the court, the synchronized teamwork left their opponents struggling to find a gap.
By the third and final set, both teams were visibly exhausted, but Astig never slowed down.
Determined to finish strong, Dacillo unleashed another sky-high killer spike, extending their lead by four points and closing the game with style.
As the final whistle blew, cheers erupted around the field—Astig were officially crowned District Champions, their hard work and unity finally rewarded.
